Denpasar (Antara Bali) – Officials from three provinces of Thailand visited Indonesia’s Institute of Arts (ISI) Denpasar to strengthen relations between the two countries.
“We are pleasure to welcome Thailand officials and it is our time to introduce more about our campus and sharing best experiences each other,” The Rector of ISI Denpasar Prof Dr I Gede Arya Sugiartha stated here on Friday.
Those three officials were the Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province Chamroen Tipayapongtada, Vice Governor of Surat Thani Province Vijyut Tjinto and Vice Governor of Chumphon Province Jaraschai Chokreunsakul along with their entourage.
On his remarks, Prof Arya said ISI Denpasar is one out of nine colleges of art in Indonesia who conducted academic and vocational program of art and design and managed two faculties including bachelor degree and post-graduate.
He said the number of active students in academic year of 2017 registered more than 2.165 students from both local and various cities across Indonesia. International students, he added, has been acknowledged as one of its primary concern.
“Each year international students from many countries are consistently participating art at our campus and we now administer international student for undergraduate and graduate levels, pursuing degrees of either bachelor or master,” he said.
“We also have 217 lecturers who hold master and PhD, graduated from both Indonesian and international universities,” he added.
Prof Arya explained international students also interested to seek “Dharmasiswa”, a non degree scholarship program given by the Indonesian Government to foreign students for one year of course.
To improve human resources, research and academic issues, Prof Arya stated that ISI Denpasar will expand cooperation and partnership with stakeholders including campus in Indonesia and foreign universities.
In line to that of, they explored possibilities to initiate and establish network with other universities in the world, including from Thailand.
On May this year, ISI Denpasar will be the host for a workshop held by Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Center for Archipelago and Fine Art or SEAMO CFAFA in which Prof Arya is one of the Governing Board Member Representative of Indonesia.
“We have cooperation with several universities, indigenous people, local government, consulate general and embassies,” he said.
